Brangelina twins finally here

July 15th, 2008

After weeks and weeks of speculation and rumors that Angelina had given birth to her twins, it seems that day is finally here. The twins were born one minute apart on Saturday evening at the Nice hospital were Angelina was admitted a couple of weeks ago. Brad and Angelina have decided to call their newborns Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline.

While no one at this time is quite sure where the name Knox Leon comes from, it is believed the little girl was named after Angelina’s mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, who passed away in 2007 after battling cancer for over 7 years.

According to Angelina’s gynecologist, Dr. Michel Sussmann, all went well during the delivery. “Everything went smoothly. The children are doing very well, the mother is doing very well and the father is doing very well.” Born by cesarean section, Knox Leon weighed five pounds and three ounces, while his sister Vivienne Marcheline was born weighing slightly less at five pounds.

While some fathers to be are anxious, running around and not quite knowing what to do with themselves, this was not the case with Brad.  Sussman says the new father “was very calm and was not at all disturbed…..When the babies arrived he was very euphoric,” while Angelina herself had a “blinding smile.”

As for the cesarean section itself, it was moved ahead for medical reasons and also to ensure that the twins were born “in the best conditions. “in the best conditions.”in the best condition”. There were no problems during the surgery and according to Sussman “Angelina Jolie was speaking, was laughing with her husband. They were happy.”

By all accounts, the couple is tickled pink at the birth of their baby boy and girl. The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, who personally sigend the twins’ birth certificate, had the following to say about the couple. “The father is having one of the happiest moments of his life, like any father, especially when they have the joy of having two children from such a wonderful wife as Angelina Jolie.”

Brangelina plan their next adoption?

July 11th, 2008

So Angelina has yet to pop out her twins and the world eagerly awaits the arrival of the latest Jolie-Pitts. The Mom-to-be is still in the hospital, most likely on bed rest. Now if I was stuck in bed for weeks on end waiting for my 5th and 6th child to be born I know exactly what I would be doing. Reading, watching TV, sucking back smoothies. What I would most likely not be doing is planning my next adoption. But then again I am not Angelina Jolie.

Rumors are floating that Angelina and her man, Brad Pitt, are going to be adopting a child from China. They were both deeply moved and upset by the plight of so many orphaned children after the May earthquake. So moved that they are opening up their homes, once again, to a child in need.

According to the National Inquirer, a source has told them, “Even as the birth of their twins impended, Angie and Brad were already talking adoption again. She’s devastated over the earthquake that occurred in China, she has been in constant touch with relief workers as part of her U.N. involvement, and even got her hands on photos of a few orphaned kids.” The source goes on to say that, “She’s made overtures to offer a home to one, or even two China earthquake orphans, if they’re siblings.”

So, if the two adopt a pair of siblings, that will be 8 kids in total. While I think it is great that they are so giving and generous, it is starting to feel like they are collecting kids like some Hollywood stars collect cars or purses. I think they even officially have more children than Paris Hilton has dogs. And that’s no easy feet.

But if it’s what they want to do, more power to them. And not only are they giving these orphans a bright, new home, they are helping to keep the nanny business afloat.

Angelina Jolie in hospital

July 3rd, 2008

It seems Angelina Jolie has checked herself into a French hospital. But fear not. All is well with Mrs. Pitt and the little bambinos. She is in the hospital only as a precaution. There has been much baby buzz around the 33 year old actress since she announced in May that she is expecting twins. Actually her Kung Fu Panda co-star Jack Black made the announcement. Anyway, since May there has been a serious baby watch on Jolie.

According to a statement by the hospital, “As part of the normal monitoring of her pregnancy, as it has been arranged for a long time, Ms. Angelina Jolie was admitted to the Lenval Foundation’s Santa Maria maternity clinic.” Jolie will stay in hospital until the twins are born. The due date has never been released to the media or general public, resulting in several false reports over the past few months that the actress had actually already had the twins. Dustin Hoffman, also a co-star of Angelina’s in Kung Fu Panda, let it slip that the due date was August 19th, although that was never confirmed. I bet she’s kinda wishing she had skipped out on that movie.

The twins will be the fifth and sixth additions to the Jolie-Pitt empire, I mean family. The couple have a biological child, Shiloh, born in May of 2006 plus three adopted children: six year old Maddox, born in Cambodia, Pax, four, born in Vietnam and three year old Zahara, born in Ethiopia.

According to the local paper, Nice Matin, Jolie has the nicest room in the clinic, with a view like no other. And why the Hell not? If I was going to be stuck in a hospital for weeks on end, not being able to get out of bed except to pee, I’d want a killer view too. And Brad Pitt, if possible. The paper also reported that Jolie has booked four rooms on the maternity ward after being flown in Sunday by helicopter and that she is under the watch of body guards.

In a press conference Wednesday her doctor, Michel Sussman has said, “I can’t give you a date. Let’s say the birth will happen in the weeks to come.” Gee, thanks for the info, doc. Let’s say that we kinda already figured that out. So I guess the media and public alike will be holding its breath in the weeks to come, just like it has been since May. By all the media hype I’d almost be willing to believe that Jolie is the first woman to give birth to twins.
