Is Mariah Carey’s marriage over?

July 7th, 2008

It seems that there is trouble brewing in the two month old marriage between Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. The couple are arguing over the fact that Nick feels Mariah is too demanding of him and acts too much like a diva. Um, hello, you had met her before the wedding, right, Nick? There is no way you should be surprised by anything Mimi does. She seems pretty demanding to me and I’ve never met the woman.

The couple got married in the Bahamas, April; 30th after a month long whirlwind romance. See, if you get married after you’ve known the person two seconds, it might not last. I don’t think anyone is surprised that things are rocky between Mariah and Nick. Most likely people are surprised they’ve lasted this long. I know I gave them three weeks.

According to a source, who spoke to OK! magazine, “Nick is basically around to attend to her diva-ish ways. When they were in Hawaii where Mariah was filming the video for I’ll Be Lovin’ U, Nick dashed off to buy her gifts at Tiffany and Co. and Louis Vuitton to keep her happy.” Sounds more like a personal shopper than a husband to me.

Another source told News of the World, “Things are really bad between them. The honeymoon period was over before it began. Nick’s been surprised at just how demanding his wife is.” Once again, Nick, how can you be surprised that she’s extremely demanding? That’s like being surprised by how religious the Pope is.

Mariah has also taken over every aspect of Cannon’s career, trying to turn him into a serious musician. This is also becoming a bone of contention between the two, with Mariah wanting Nick to only play big important venues and Nick just seeming to want to play venues, period. Rumor has it he was booked to play a sweet sixteen party that Mariah didn’t want him to do.

But according to a statement made by Nick to People, everything in Nick-Mariah land is just hunky dory : “Marriage is amazing. It’s the best thing that ever happened to me.”

We’ll see, Nick. We’ll just see.
